Sirius vs XM. That discussion is tired. Don’t be surprised if the two wind up merging given how their stock’s been doing. Right now, I’m less interested in satellite radio for satellite radio’s sake. Ah, but what if Apple bought XM or Sirius? Combine the variety and richness of satellite content with the ability to buy that content immediately and play it on your iPod/satellite receiver and you’ve got youself a winner. Let’s call it the iSky. Take it one step further and add a satellite based music personal storage solution. Why bother synching with your Mac or PC at home? Just synch with your satellite library. Why not have on-demand access to songs you’ve already purchased? Customized satellite playlist channels. Come to think of it, this seems pretty well-aligned for Rhapsody and Napster too, though they don’t have the deep pockets that would be requied to purchase XM or Sirius.
